This dress was a mess when I got it..
Rust stains on the lace..
The blue satin bodice was discolored in large sections..
Such a gorgeous gown..
But perhaps it was too far gone.
So I made the decision to mix up some pretty purples and blues..
And I lowered this beauty into a vat of dye..
Surely it will help!
And here’s how it came out!
1980’s vintage dress by ZumZum
An absolute dream!
Satin ruched bodice with pearl details..
Off the shoulder shoulder ruffles..
Pointed waist..
Fullest skirt ever..
I put my biggest petticoat under it and there was miles more room..
I think it could fit side panniers!
The bodice drapes down into the skirt with wonderful ribbon drawn panels..
The under skirt is made of endless lace tiers..
Theres an attached crinoline petticoat..
Zips up the back.
The dress is structurally in excellent condition..but the discoloration was severe on the bodice and lace and the hand dye did not cover it entirely..instead the dye seemed to soften the colors making them blend into this gorgeous bouquet of lavenders and corn flower blues..Theres still signs of the rust spotting on the underskirt..but most of the rusty spots have blended away…I find it quite lovely..but not a perfect piece..someone added sone ribbon to the shoulders for storage and the elastic straps have been replaced..please message if you need more detailed photographs
