What a rare jewel this dress is!
1970’s vintage by Candi Jones..
When I first saw this color combination I knew it was something special..
The rich amethyst purple calico grabbed me immediately..I know this fabric!
If you collect Gunne Sax then you probably know it too
Sure enough I was able to find the signed selvedge to confirm..Wasmutta!
And the velveteen..let’s not let this citrine orange jewel get overshadowed..
Its so soft..and that color!
And together..wow, really a fantastic pallet!
The cut of the dress is a classic..
A lace up corset bust..
The lacing is a pretty satiny rat cord..
Peplum waist with ties for a knockout silhouette..
Cord spaghetti straps that tie at the shoulder..
Full maxi length skirt both a gorgeous bottom ruffle..
All trimmed with ivory Venice lace and orange velveteen ribbon trim..
The bodice is lined so beautifully with a rust orange acetate satin..
Skirt is unlined.
Zips up the back with original zipper.
Incredible dress..
Shown on a size 7-9 mannequin and is much too small to fit properly but gives a good visual of the fit of the dress.
Excellent condition..has a little bit of yellowing to the lace at the underarm..I have not spot treated it
