I’ll immediately confess that I’m in love with this!
What an amazing piece!
An antique from the late 1800’s..
Made from a Devore’ velvet in a beautiful floral pattern..
A rich burgundy color..
So beautiful!
The tailored bodice buttons up the front with brass buttons..
The buttons are stamped and detailed with scrolling garlands and pillars..
A small collar..
Huge shoulders on a tapered mutton sleeve..
The bottom of the jacket has a wonderful length to it..
Slits on the sides and back for movement.
Lined with an ecru cotton on the bodice and sleeves..
A burgundy cotton lining for the tails and bottom..
Beautiful scalloped seam details on the inside..
Wonderful construction!
No boning on this one..
Definitely a wearable piece..
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Im not trying this one on or I will keep her for sure!
Shown with a Gunne Sax dress and is not included with the jacket but is available
Excellent condition for it’s age! Missing the top button..I was thinking of a fancy replacement..The velvet is in amazing condition but does have a single bleach spot on the back on both the velvet and lining.. There is some minor wear to edges and button hole areas..underarms are strong with no tearing or repairs..the lining shows some fading and watermarking at the underarm but it does not show to the velvet..the sleeve lining has tears..
Amazing piece!
